Action/Adventure
When a rich person wants more then the world is not enough...revenge is.
Pierce Brosnan has finally become James Bond. THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH shows us a great 007, the best since Sean Connery. Yes I did like the movie...quite a lot. The opening sequence takes almost 20 minutes before the credits and it is well worth it. The incredible boat chase sequence moves quickly and is action packed The story premise is set during this time as Bond is duped into causing the death of a friend.

The title credits to THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH are as beautiful as ever. It has been such a great treat to watch the opening titles on the Bond films all these years. They get better all the time.

After his friend, British oil tycoon Sir Robert King is killed James Bond makes it his job to protect King's daughter, Elektra. Elektra King has inherited her father's billions in oil deposits and all his troubles. She becomes the target of an international assassin who once kidnapped her and held her for ransom, Renard. She escaped and now he wants her back. Viktor Zokas (Renard) makes the perfect villian for Bond as he feels no pain. A bullet lodged in his brain is slowly killing him as it travels in the brain. The more the bullet travels the less pain he feels and the stronger he gets. He lives for revenge only and only Bond stands in his way. The story supplies us with many twists and turns and not everything is what it seems.

M played by the great Judi Dench has a much larger role in this film as she actually goes out on the field on assignment. A future replacement for Q is shown in the person of John Cleese as R. He is an excellent choice for the future as Desmond Llewelyn is really getting on in age. Robert Carlyle playing the part of Renard is quite good . He plays this villian rather subduded which is not what I expected from him. I expected to see this wild over the top acting job and was surprised not to see him do that. The part was well acted and he comes across as both nasty and sympathetic at the same time. I think you will be surprised by his part. Watch for Robbie Coltrane as Valentin Dimitreveych Zukovsky another great part in this film.

The action moves fast and furious through this movie with good effects but with few wild gadgets. This may be the best since FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. That movie like this one survived on a well written script and not silly gimmicks. Pierce Brosnan plays Bond here more like he was written, especially, in Casino Royale. Expect a few unexpected actions by Bond in this one. That's it... that's all. You get no more from me because I think you should see this one with as little information as possible. The money you pay to see THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH will be well spent. This Bond chapter is more politically correct as we do not see any girls with names like Pussy Galore or Plenty O'Toole, just Christmas Jones played by Denise Richards, the girl with the luscious lips. Except for the usual violence, this film is pretty safe for young children over ten. Boy it felt good to see THE JAMES BOND back. Ian Flemming would be proud of this chapter in the long running career of his creation.
