COMEDY
Martin Lawrence proves once again that he can be really funny. Unfortunately he sometimes goes over the top in this simplistic and quite implausable script. Do not get me wrong here, I really had a howl watching BLUE STREAK. It's hard not to laugh at the absurdity of his situation.
Lawrence and three of his cronies are burglars...high class burglars. They steal a very large $20 million dollar diamond from a high security building and they would have gotten away if not for a traitor amongst them. Lawrence gets captured but not before he hides the diamond in a building that is being erected. He goes to jail and bides his time until he is released and goes back to retrieve the diamond. Unfortunately, he discovers that the hideout for the diamond is now a high security police station. His way in become a cop. From here the story gets really hysterical.
Many slapstick situations occur as he becomes more of a cop day by day. The film has action, car chases and shoot'em ups. Even though much is over the top you still find yourself laughing heartily as we see him become the toast of the department and moves his way to department head. His criminal expertise helps him climb the promotion ladder.
You really should this film just for the laughs; its worth the sheckels you have to pay.
