Synopsis:
This film is a tight well written film. Even though some people may feel that ARLINGTON ROAD is too
exaggerated in it's content somehow I feel that it is not. It poses reasonable questions of law enforcement agencies
and militia terrorist groups in the U.S.A. as well. Someday it may come down to a real battle for control of the
US government and if the real militia groups are as well organized as in this film then yes I would be very paranoid
and fearful for the future.![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() ARLINGTON ROAD is not an action shoot up movie. It is about tragic loses and tragic beliefs. It is about people losing faith in what they have and the consequences of that lose. It is about how people who should know better can be fooled, tricked and extorted into believing what the media and others want you to believe until the day comes that it is too late to do anything about it. Jeff Bridges plays opposite Tim Robbins and Joan Cusak in this study of terrorism. ![]() ![]() This film has some excellent action sequences that are well balanced with thought provoking questions. In other words expect some plot with actual dialogue and not just effects and explosions. It is the story of a man, Michael Faraday who teaches the effects of terrorism in university, who has lost his wife to the stupidity of enforcement agency folies. She was an FBI agent who ran a foul. I'll let you find out yourself of why and how she dies. It introduces new neighbours Oliver and Cheryl Lang to the story and I must say Cusak is excellent in her part as the neighbour's wife. These neighbours are not what they seem. As the story unfold we are witness to a well plotted act of revenge. Pay attention to things said and done in this film because everything is important no matter how trivial it seems. Everything is not what it seems. After the betrayals and double dealings we reach a conclusion that I really was not ready for. It actually surprised me because like the characters I realized what was about to happen just as they did, and felt the futility of what is about to happen. I will say no more because I really hate to give away too much of this movie as I feel you should see this one for yourselves. ![]()
![]() This film is well worth the money so when it comes to your local theatre or drive-in go see it. Since it is coming out at the same time as STAR WARS 1 I hope that it does not get lost because it would be a real shame to miss this taunt thriller and I will be looking forward to seeing it again. Rated PG-13/Adult Accompanient for language and violence. ![]() |
