| VINCE'S MOVIE REVIEWS | Synopsis: In The Rage: Carrie 2, Ralph White, Carrie's father seems to have sowed some more wild oats. The curse of Ralph White continues in Rachel, a young girl who just doesn't belong. The first suggesion I have here is that if you haven't seen the original Carrie by Stephen King then go out and rent the video before this film comes out and you go to see it. The film is intercut on many occasssions with the original Carrie film with Sissy Spacek(the mother in Blast From The Past). This of course is meant to help those whom have not seen the original film. Since most horror film sequels tend to use the same pattern, expect similiarities to the original. No right off the bat this film is not as good as the original Brian DePalma classic horror film, but sequels rarely are. With that in mind let me say this was not a bad attempt. It does well in evoking emotions and terror but not those of horror. I feel that is due to the fact that surprises really aren't part of this film because if you've seen the original then you know what is going to happen; so when I say make sure you wait for the credits before you get up to leave then you'll understand why. Telekinesis(the power to do things with her mind) was the point of the first movie and of course this is also Rachel's curse. Rachel refuses to accept that she has this power and refuses to believe it even when confronted by Sue Snell(Amy Irving) who was one of the few survivers from the original devastation. She finally feels that she can lead a normal life when she begins to date Jesse one of the football team jocks. No he isn't trying to set her up for a fall, he really cares for her which makes things that happen even more tragic.? This is a good teen movie and worth the money, line up to see it.
