VINCE'S MOVIE REVIEWS
OFFICE SPACE
I took a friend to a special screening of Office Space the other day and you know it was really funny. Don't go to see this film unless you want to suspend reality for a while and have good laugh. Oh yeah it's not scheduled to open until February 19
Comedy
Synopsis: This movie is based on Mike Judge's cartoon strip "Milton". Ron Livingston plays Peter Gibbons, a computer programmer who at the ripe old age of 28, is having a mid life crisis. Yeah wait he turns 40, then talk to me about middle age crisis. Okay so he can't endure any more of his mind numbing routine. The opening commuter scene sets the mood of frustration. It is a howl. I'm surprised, that considering how frustrating driving to work is, that more people don't go insane on the highways of North America.

Everyone at a software company, Initech, are an unhappy lot as they move through their Dilbert-like world. Day after day they put up with petty annoyances, monotonous work, too many bosses, redundant paperwork and the constant spectre of losing their jobs. True to form the company brings in the dreaded efficiency experts.

Three of the characters decide that since their jobs are gone that they will leave parting gift in the company computer system. of course like in all good comedies things do not go the way they were planned. Milton, in the meantime mumbles his way throught the movie with some really humourous bits. Stephen Root is perfect. He is totally different from the tough, self-assured boss on television's Newradio series. Most of the characters, you'll recognize from different television series. Gary Cole plays the boss to the hilt. He is nothing like that nasty sheriff in American Gothic. Oh yeah he is soon to beon the air again as the Captain of The Excalibur on the new Babylon 5 spin off Crusaders.

This is not movie I would necessarily run out to see at really large screen theatres where you pay a lot more. I t will do okay considering Mike Judge's Beavis and Butthead connection. For the older folks out there, no, this movie is not like Beavis and Butthead. When it hits the video market it will do extremely well. This is also a very good drive-in movie. That's it, because, if I say to much more I give away the ending.

Recommendations on this one...take some friends with you that way you won't feel out of place laughing so hard.
