"You've killed seventeen men and you think my wife's not a good person?" |
|
Matthew Perry is Nicholas "Oz" Oseransky a dentist who is quite happy in his career living in Montreal. His life is put into disarray by his new next door neighbour, Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski (BRUCE WILLIS), who is a contract hitman. Jimmy is hiding out from a Chicago crime family that is out to kill him. What does he have in common with Oz? Well, it seems that someone is trying to kill him as well. The catch is that the one trying to kill him, is his wife, played by Rosanna Arquette. Both Jimmy and Oz end up helping each other stay alive, of course Oz is the one who needs the most help. They are joined by Michael Clarke Duncan (THE GREEN MILE) and Natasha Henstridge (SPECIES). Natasha plays the new love interest of Oz but unfortunately she is Jimmy's wife. Jimmy is a very faithful man who does not believe in infidelity. Unfortunately, he does not feel the same way about killing. You see he intends to kill his wife but Oz has fallen in love with her and now he has to make sure that Jimmy does not kill her or him, for that matter, and all this, he has to accomplish without all of them being killed by Kevin Pollack the head of the Chicago crime family. This movie gives you lots of good twists and turns and is quite funny, but, remember that if you bring children to see it, that this is black humour and there is a lot of killing. Willis is funny and Matthew Perry plays things like he does everything else, funny in that deadpan way. Amanda Peet is one to watch; she is excellent as Oz's assistant who is a hired killer wannabe. Otherwise, the story follows the usual formula in this type of film so there is not much more to say about it. Basically, if you want a good laugh, go see this film. |
