VINCE'S MOVIE REVIEWS ENCOUNTERS IN THE THIRD DIMENSION
I saw this film on a 6 story high screen and it is the best 3D film I have seen to date. It has incredible computer graphics and it features an equally incredible roller coaster ride through the center of the earth. While this film entertains it also educates you in the history of the 3D movie from its early stereophonic photo cards to modern 3D films. It was fun to watch clips from many 3D films made in the past. Find an IMAX theatre in your area and catch this film.
The story starts in the fantastic laboratory of the Professor (Stuart Pankin) where using Elvira, Mistress Of The Dark he shows us the history of 3D leading up to his new invention, REAL-O-VISION. He is aided by an array of fantastic flying robots. Of course these robots tend to fly right into your face. The thrill packed ride on the roller coaster actually makes you feel dizzy as you roar through the center of the earth.
nWAVE Pictures have created a ground breaking 3D feature that will amaze you. They used over 100,000 hours of digital rendering to create this film. Forget waiting for the video on this one because it isn't coming. This type of film can only truly be experienced on a the giant screen. The day I saw it was the last day they were going to use the special polaroid glasses which work on your eyes to virtually shut down one eye at a time which allows you to see the 3D effect. THis constant motion may give you a slight headache so I really do not suggest seeing two 3D fims in a row. I did and yes I got a headache. The next day they were bring in the new wrap around headsets that will hopefully eliminate the headaches. I I understand the new headsets correctly the will actually have shutters on the lenses that will move up and down so quick you won't notice but it will help you see the 3D effect even better with o headache. I'll be going back soon to see how well they work. By the way the film is shown simulataneouly on two projectors to give you the effect. They weigh one ton each and that is as technical as I will go. That is it so now go out and see ENCOUNTERS IN THE THIRD DIMENSION
