Comedy This is the story of two boys who find themselves together by circumstances beyond their control...love. Sandy Koufax played by Adam Sandler, is a 32 year old who is slowly wasting his life away, living on a dwindling insurance settlement and a one day a week job as a toll booth collector. His friends put up with him and his rudness but not so his girlfriend. She tells him that he irresponsible and wants to leave him. His friend, Jon Stewart consoles him even though Sandy constantly puts his ex-Hooters girlfirend down every chance he gets, but soon he must leave on business. Fate hands Sandy a gift. A young boy is dropped at his door. He is Jon Stewart's illegitimate son. Sandy decides to use the child to get his girlfriend back. He goes to tell her only to find she is now living with a much older man. You can only imagine the type of language and jokes he hits the two with, very funny stuff. Needless to say he is stuck with the young boy and proceedes to teach him to be an individual but soon he learns that parenting is not as easy as it looks. The fun ends and they discover that they both have to grow up. Sandy is the one who really has to grow up and become a responsible man and parent. This is really a movie of Sandy Koufax's coming of age. The antics in this movie are very funny and heart warming. The ending is very good and well worth waiting for. Sandler delivers his usual comedy barbs which we have come to expect. I am not a big Sandler fan but I do find his last few films entertaining but only because he has tempered his angry humour with some heart like in THE WEDDING SINGER. Anyway be ready to sit down and join the others in the theatre in rounds of hearty laughter. Worth seeing, but parents be warned that there are scenes that may give your children some nasty ideas. But love wins out and so does parenting. |
